Ag Commissioner Commends USDA Decision to Open Certain FSA Offices during Shutdown

JACKSON, Miss. — Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson applauded the
announcement made today by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue that many Farm Service Agency
(FSA) offices will re-open temporarily in the coming days to perform certain limited services for farmers and
ranchers. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has recalled about 2,500 FSA employees nationally
to open offices during normal business hours on the following days:
• Thursday, January 17
• Friday, January 18
• Tuesday, January 22
FSA staff will be available to assist agricultural producers with existing farm loans and to ensure the agency
provides 1099 tax documents to borrowers by the Internal Revenue Service’s deadline. FSA offices that will
be open in Mississippi include the following:
• Attala County Service Center, Kosciusko
• Chickasaw County Service Center, Houston
• Covington County Service Center, Collins
• Forrest County Service Center, Hattiesburg
• George County Service Center, Lucedale
• Jasper County Service Center, Bay Springs
• Jones County Service Center, Laurel
• Leflore County Service, Greenwood
• Lincoln County Service Center, Brookhaven
• Neshoba County Service Center, Philadelphia
• Noxubee County Service Center, Macon
• Oktibbeha County Service Center, Starkville
• Panola County Service Center, Batesville
• Pearl River County Service Center, Poplarville
• Pike County Service Center, McComb
• Prentiss County Service Center, Booneville
• Scott County Service Center, Forest
• Tallahatchie County Service Center, Charleston
• Union County Service Center, New Albany
• Warren County Service Center, Vicksburg
• Yazoo County Service Center, Yazoo City
