Latest Mid-South Severe Weather Briefing
This afternoon and tonight: no hazardous weather is expected at this time. Wednesday through Monday: strong and gusty southerly winds are expected Wednesday, and may occur again on Thursday. A few strong to severe storms are possible late Wednesday into Thursday afternoon. Damaging winds will be the primary threat. Locally heavy rainfall is possible Wednesday evening into Thursday which could aggravate ongoing river flooding. Localized flooding of low-lying areas is possible as well.
Strong southerly winds will develop late Wednesday Morning and continue through the evening hours. Wind Gusts as high as 50 mph will be possible along and west of the Mississippi River.
Locally heavy rainfall is expected across the Mid-South late Wednesday and Thursday. This may aggravate river flooding across the region and could cause flooding of low-lying, poor drainage areas. The greatest impact appears to be in northern Mississippi.
